Lokomotion Gesellschaft für Schienentraktion mbH, based in Munich, is one of the leading traction providers in transalpine rail freight transport on the Brenner and Tauern axis. The core business is block trains in unaccompanied combined transport and wagonload traffic. Since its foundation in 2000, Lokomotion has realised continuous growth and a steady expansion of its product range in close cooperation with shareholders, customers and business partners. The positive development of the company led not only to the founding of Lokomotion Austria but also to the establishment of an in-house training centre for prospective train drivers (m/f/d) at the main location in Munich. This was followed by the establishment of an independent locomotive workshop for service and repair work at the Kufstein site.

Training Centre
The training centre is officially recognised by the Federal Railway Authority as a training centre in accordance with § 14 of the Traction Vehicle Driving Licence Ordinance and has stood for consistently high quality since it opened in 2017.
The training offer includes apprenticeships, further training and retraining in all aspects of railway operations. The focus is on training to become a train driver (m/f/d), which can be completed as part of a three-year IHK training course or a functional training course (12-14 months). As an independent corporate unit of a leading rail transport company, the training centre guarantees a high level of practical relevance in combination with training content that is up-to-date in the industry. Qualified trainers have many years of experience in the industry – they are “railwaymen” themselves and therefore experts in their field. The heart of the training centre is the driving simulator, because this is where trainees can train theoretically acquired knowledge in practice. Especially extraordinary operating situations or an energy-saving driving style can be optimally simulated with the driving simulator.

Locomotive Workshop
The Lokomotion GmbH locomotive workshop, located on the extensive grounds of the Kufstein border station, was opened in March 2020. The range of services includes light and heavy maintenance of electric and diesel locomotives. Technical examinations, modifications, conversions as well as statutory revisions are also offered. The locomotive workshop has five maintenance stands including a working pit and is also equipped with an oil separator system, a crane runway and a lifting jack system. With modern technical equipment combined with the know-how and many years of experience of the workshop staff, Lokomotion guarantees high quality maintenance.
